Duxbury Student Union awards scholarships, as funds permit, on the basis of demonstrated financial need or academic/leadership performance. In keeping with the philosophy that the primary responsibility for financing after school care rests with the family, DSU reviews each financial aid application individually to determine eligibility. DSU endeavors to meet financial need with funding from our scholarship endowment, but we are unable to to meet 100% of every deserving applicant’s need.
The online application asks for an explanation of how your child would benefit from the program, and any extenuating circumstances that would help us better understand the need for a scholarship.
Since DSU does not have sufficient funds to offer scholarships to every student who demonstrates need, there is strong competition for available funds. Unless otherwise noted, you must file a complete online application for each year in which you wish to apply for aid, to renew a scholarship, or to be considered for any additional assistance.
To be a candidate for scholarships, your financial aid application must be complete by the deadline established each year. All scholarship aid is tentative until required forms are received and reviewed. It is your responsibility to notify DSU of any changes in information originally submitted on your application.
At a minimum, in order to apply for or renew any scholarships through the DSU Sandy Burdick Scholarship & Leadership Endowment, the student must achieve satisfactory academic progress and demonstrate acceptable behavior and conduct in the program.
Based upon the performance and growth of the Sandy Burdick Endowment fund, partial program scholarships are available to students in the Alden after school program and the DMS CEO program.
Middle school students who have excelled in academics and leadership will be considered for the Leadership Scholarship. These students are considered leaders within the program and experience various opportunities to improve student life for all students.
This financial scholarship is awarded to one high school senior whose contributions have demonstrated leadership and a love for DSU during middle school and high school.
For families with more than one student in the program, each sibling’s tuition will be discounted 10% ($250 value per student).
Employee benefit approved by the Duxbury Student Union Board. Employees must submit all paperwork prior to approval. Their children must be of Alden, DMS or High School age, be independent and a role model for academics and conduct.
A 50% discount is available for up to two students per camp day (and is applicable only when the minimum number of attendees is met). In order to meet the need of local families, this scholarship is awarded to a student once in a calendar year.
