Kindness, empathy, celebrating differences and demonstrating respect for others are of utmost importance at DSU.

Through all of our programs, we encourage students to develop an understanding of right and wrong, to learn to advocate for oneself, appreciate and respect others opinions, develop a strong belief  system and willingness to honor both sides of an issue.

We use current events to develop our daily curriculum and spark conversations that help students process difficult and diverse topics.  Students share opinions and thoughtful reactions to timely topics and learn to celebrate our differences while reinforcing social courtesies.

Danny Appreciation Day at DSU was inspired by Danny Keefe, a 7 year-old from Bridgewater, MA, who not only struggles with a speech impediment, but was bullied for dressing differently.  DSU students dressed like Danny to show their support to celebrate being different and shaking off bullying!
